    Fun Monday, Pensieve style

The explanation on this is rather lengthy, so since I'm typing one handed it may not make total sense, but I'm trying...

City of Angels has always been an extremely sad movie for me.  I literally would watch it and be depressed for days. HOW could he have given up being angel and how could he live the rest of his life without her, only having one day's worth of memories?

But I was watching it the other day, and his line toward the end finally made perfect, beautiful sense to me.  I've been married nearly 15 years to a man I have been with since I was 15, and it wasn't until recently that I have been able to completely comprehend that kind of selfless love.

And now?  The movie doesn't make me sad.  The movie reminds me that there is great love in this world, and I am very blessed to have found it.

    The quote:

"I would rather have had one breath of her hair, one kiss from her mouth, one touch of her hand, than eternity without it.  One."

Being able to finally understand the depth of that statement and the beauty behind it makes me realize just how much I have grown.  I am so very thankful for that.

Happy Birthday Preston (a day late)

You have grown so much physically, emotionally,  mentally. The teen years are like a cave, but you will make it through and be a strong, sensitive and caring man at the end.  Daddy and I will be there to help guide you every step of the way because we love you and your siblings with all our hearts.

I can't believe you went from this:

    Please don't leave me

I will be posting eratically, and commenting less than that for at least the next couple of weeks.

When I went to the ortho today about my roller skating incident, they did a new set of x-rays.  This set showed a small fracture in my radius and a chip in one of the carpals.  I now have a cast from my thumb to above my elbow.  Not having a right arm has made me extremely pissy, and I'm still expected to do my two hands necessary job with one hand.   Which leaves me in tons of pain at the end of the day.  Hopefully this will get easier before my first 2 weeks are up.  I'll miss y'all tons.  I will still read your blogs, though.

A certain mother and daughter (ahem) watch WAY too much ANTM

America's Next Top Model for those of you who aren't "in the know" (just kidding, it's really my guilty pleasure)

Here are some of the poses she learned from watching the show:

(That bone stucture, that body...I sure wish I had them and fyi she has bloomers on under the dress, she is quite modest)

She also learned how to model emotions Check this out:

    No emotion:

    "Fierce":

    Sad:

    Angry:

    And bonus pic- this is the actual "teenage asshole face" that she was giving her dad because she was mad at him;

Maybe I should go back to taking pictures of flowers, what do you think?

    Twisty fate

In a typical Jenn twist of fate Miranda got her cast off today and I'll be getting one put on tomorrow.  Miranda is now in a splint, I will get my splint off tomorrow.

    Cute, huh?

My hand and wrist aren't feeling any better so they decided the only way to really help is to completely immobilize it in a cast.  Then I won't be able to do any of my job.  Lovely.

    March 24, 2008

Fun Monday- all of the fingers on my left hand are not enough

So I am cheating by taking my wrist splint off.  I think the assignment was something about ABC's and something about how  all the ABC words are interrelated- so here are my ABC's of all things medical:

A- Adam's apple (why that's the first thing to come to me I don't know)

    B- Brachial artery

C- Craniotomy (I'm quite sure I need one of those)

    D- Dermatologist

E- ECG (the topic of my masters thesis, blech)

F- Fingers (Mine STILL hurt, wwaaaaahhhh)

G- Gout (sounds gross like what is left over when food rots)

H- Hippocrates (father of modern medicine, ya know and apparently for some reason the first hippocrite)

    I- ICD-9 coding (damn insurance)

J- jugular- If you like someone don't cut them there, but it would be a good place to slash a horror movie film type guy (if you have one you want to get rid of)

K- karyotype (your specific set and sequence of DNA)

L- leper (I've been treated like one before, but it was mostly by the Barbie moms that live here)

    M- meninges

    N- Norwalk virus

    O- Otolaryngologist

    P- Palate

Q- part of a normal heart rhthym wave (QRS, ventricular depolarization)

R- radius (I missed the r on the first go-'round)

S- scalpel (the better to cut you with, rusty ones are discouraged)

T- Tonsils (who needs em anyway?)

    U- Uvula

    V- Vein

    W-Wisdom teeth (for toofless Jenny)

    X- X-ray

    Y- yellow fever

    Z- Zygomatic arch

Hope i didn't miss any letters! Of course I still don't understand the assignment, but I tried Mrs Swampy, I really did.

Congratulations Jan from The Poodle and Dog blog

You are my 2000th commenter!!!!  If you haven't read Jan , you should.  She is passionate about dogs (and some kind of weird chicken) and usually has great dog related stories on her blog, interlaced with personal anecdotes.

Jan (and others-you know who you are) I know I still owe you chocolate and I will get that shipped out (I still have it, and that should prove my devotion to my readers, because I haven't eaten it yet!)  But Jan, you will get a second "gift" for hitting the magic number 2000!!! Congrats!  All the decorations from the pink elephant post go to you!

Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting over the last 14 months- you're a great group!

Do you think this will help sell my house?

    Img_2708_2

Yeah, they're still up.  I guess it's time to take them down.

We have an official good faith estimate letter!!!!!

We meet with the builders (who will also sell our existing house)  next week to get the process started.  I'm SO excited- this house has everything we want and nothing we don't. The kids are really excited too!  Now the least fun part begins- cleaning our current house and beautifying it for potential buyers.  I may be a bit crazy for a little while because five kids and clean don't really go well together.

YIPPEEE (about the house part, not the clean part)!

    ooops, it was x-rayed.

There is no obvious fracture, but when I broke both of the bones in my leg they missed it both times on the x-ray and didn't catch it until the second round of x-rays.  If it still hurts in a week, I need to see a real ortho.
