We went and saw The Ultimate gift this weekend. My sister-in-law's girlfriend's boss wrote the book and even played a very small role in the movie. (If you ever see it, the limo driver that asks "Do you want me to keep it running for you?" is the author, the funny thing is- he's blind!)
It was somewhat bastardized and Hollywoodized from the book, but aren't they always? I actually prefer the message and the way it's presented in the book better, but I'm not one for the "tearjerker for tearjerking's sake" type movies. It was okay though and the man who played the main character, Drew Fuller is a beautiful, beautiful man. He is some SERIOUS eye candy that made the movie worth watching. I'm not a crush on moviestars kinda gal, but whew he was HOT! I still love Ace Young from last year's idol too, but those are my only two secret loves. Okay, maybe not so secret because when that man was laying down fence posts I had to lean over to my husband and tell him how hot I thought the actor was. Thank goodness he's used to me.
Anyway said SIL's girlfriend wrote the song "Legacy" that plays through the closing credits so that made it pretty cool. I'm sure that is as close to Hollywood as I'll ever get, but I like the thought that I have spent time at her house singing her songs and she actually has a song released. When they showed her name during the credits I was screaming for her (I was the only one, but oh well....) So, see it or don't, it wasn't a waste of my time seeing it, it's just not the genre I enjoy.
