Actually it's more like a few weird obsessions. This one started around Halloween. One of the bags of candy we bought to hand out on Halloween was a bag of different types of gum. I like gum, at least initially, but as soon as it loses it's flavor I have to spit it out.
I remember as a kid my favorite gum was fruitstripes but it loses flavor more quickly than any other gum I've ever had. Ooh- epiphany! I remember buying packages of fruitstripes and chewing them until they lost flavor (a couple minutes maybe). I'd go through a whole pack in an hour. After Halloween we still had most of the bag of gum so at night when the kids and my hubby went to bed I would get several pieces of gum and chew til they lost flavor (maybe 5 minutes a piece). I would tell myself I would only eat the first handful I grabbed, but I'd end up back at the gum drawer over and over at least 2-3 more times.
We were shopping at Sam's the other day. It's something I HATE to do because I'm very anti-Walmart, but with 5 kids I really have to buy in bulk. I don't frequent the real Walmart though and yes I'm fully aware how hypocritical that is. Anyway, I saw a huge tub of gum and had to buy it. I didn't tell the kids I had it (although once I let them read this the truth is out), and I've been chewing at least 20+ pieces per day. I'm sitting here with a sore jaw and a pile of barely chewed gum. Shoot! My oldest boy walked in and saw my pile and asked where I got the gum. I tried to tell him it was a figment of his imagination, but oddly enough that didn't work on my almost 12 year old. Am I the only one out there who does this? Be honest.
