Simply Not Simple

I'm baaaaack

Does anyone know what a nomogram is?  Sure I could look it up but my internet hates me right now.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I unplugged all the wires and didn't plug thin in exactly like they were before.  Whatever.  At least they all made it into a hole, that's important too, isn't it?  I'm going to post this and then ignore the nutrition that's ogling me right now. It's ogling me AND I don't know what a nomogram is which is making the ogling worse.   I think the reason nutrition is so oglesome right now has something to do with the fact that I missed a LOT of nutrition classes this semester.  I'm going to ignore it, go to bed early, not sleep (I never sleep, it's physiologically impossible for me to fall asleep before 11 or 12 no matter what time I have to get up the next morning), watch some TiVo and be a bum. 

Also, I just want you to know I do know how to spell charismatic, it's kind of embarrassing that I didn't spell it right.  That is the most likely reason I don't have charisma.  It's karma that I don't have charisma.

FYI, driving 5 hours to Kansas City with a sore back and an even sorer butt is not in the least bit fun.  And by the time we got there the pain had turned me into such a raging bitch I didn't even want to be around myself.  Thankfully the ride back was somewhat better because I was smart enough to take motrin.

I made some new friends in KC this weekend.  One friend was 5, or maybe 6.  He and I hid in the basement of G's aunt's house because as he so eloquently put it, "I'm kind of shy up there.  There's too many people."  AMEN brother!  We may not be genetically related, but I'm pretty sure we were separated at birth.

My other friend was 2 or 3.  We didn't discuss age because we were WAY too busy having a sand fight.  I think he won because I left to get a drink in the middle and told him to fill up my shoes.  My adorable youngest child rescued my shoes and cleaned them off before we got back.  She's OCD like that.  So I think he wins because I think that was a forfeit.  I'm not sure how we wound up piling sand on each other's feet, but dang it that kid is adorable!

Hey Carter and Cole- you two rock, thanks for saving me from a weekend full of adults I already know after nearly 14 years of marriage!  YAY for cousins having babies!

A work funny

I graduated college in 1998.  Unfortunately I graduated with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.  Two fairly worthless degrees that I chose because I wanted to go to medical school, and these degrees matched most of the pre-reqs.

Because I didn't really have a useful degree I didn't have much choice in careers.  I ended up taking a position as a "vacation planning consultant" for a major airline (Basically I tried to sell incoming flights, hotels, etc for the caller's desired vacation spot.)  We could "option" someone who wanted to check with other people before putting down a deposit. Optioning basically  reserved a reservation for 3 days, but we needed the names of the people in the party in order to hold the reservation.

One evening, I was on a call for quite awhile with a young sounding, very friendly man.  He was booking a flight to Cancun with about 9 of his friends.  He wanted to option it for a couple of days, so I asked him for the names of the people in his party.  He told me he wasn't sure.  I told him he should KNOW who he is going on a trip with.  He said he wasn't sure which of his friends were going and which were not.  Luckily the conversation stayed civil, because really HOW can you not know your friend's names (because obviously the whole "I'm not sure who is coming" line was a crock)?  I, with my well known phenomenal patience, finally asked him dead seriously "well do you know YOUR last name?"  I sat there for a second, he sat there for a second.  I finally said "did I just ask you if you knew your own name?"  He said yes and started laughing his ass off, I soon joined him.  It seems that of the two of us I was the one with a less firm grip on reality.  To this day I still can't believe I said that.
